Top Ten A - League Erks

Yep it's that time again. For the first time ever again we're creating a list full of our top ten biggest erks in the A - League. For those who don't know, an 'erk' is something that annoys you. And yes it's true there are some things about the Hyundai A - League that annoy me. Hard to believe right . . .
Let's start at number ten and make our way up to my most biggest annoying factor at number one.
10. Coaches employing boring, sleep inducing tactics. Okay Frank Farina is gone but Lawrie Mackinna and Aurelio Vidmar remain.
09. Andy Harper's ever growing vocabulary. I prefer my commentators to be in touch with the average Joe not confusing them with thesaurus like knowledge of the English language.
08. Jason Culina trying to do too much at the Gold Coast. You can't be everywhere mate, although it could be Culina's way of proving to Pim that he can stay just as fit in the A - League as in the Dutch Eredivisie.
07. Aussie teams competing in the Asian Champions League have to wait close to twelve months before getting the chance to test themselves against the continent's best. Sadly by then the team has lost the best of it's playing roster.
06. No cup competition. I have a feeling this is due to fears the FFA have that maybe some of the State League sides could play their way into the final rounds, thus robbing the league of it's credibility.
05. Paying $20 when I use the car park at a Sydney FC game. Disgraceful!
04. Woeful crowds at Gold Coast and Brisbane. I have to admit the pricing at these two venues is the most expensive in the league but . . . I still question the wisdom of two teams in South East Queensland. Unfortunately the place is red-neck central so the region is probably going to be the last to cotton on to the revolution.
03. Lack of mainstream media coverage. It's been a long time since I've seen the A - League on the back page of a newspaper.
02. Lack of characters. Where are the newsmakers! I'm not sure if some of the players playing up would be the end of the world. The league lacks household names. Think Rugby League's Willy Mason, Wendell Sailor or AFL's Brendon Fevola, Ben Cousins. Get some of the boys on commercials or something, nobody outside soccer knows who Joel Griffiths, Alex Brosque, Dean Heffernan, Michael Zullo or Zenon Caravella are. Without sounding too soft, these blokes would be pretty marketable I'd think.
01. Everytime we have an exciting youngster I find myself saying " enjoy it, he'll be gone within twelve months." We gotta raise the cap a little in order to keep talented youngsters here just a little longer.
Anywho that's my top ten erks. I've got a few others but I'd prefer not to mention them while on the air. If you've got some don't hesitate to word up. See you in the future.

A League Finest
